Industrial Boom Begins in Krishna

Krishna district, which has been bereft of major industries all these years, is now poised for to have a few in place. In the last four-five months, five major industries were set up in the district, providing direct employment to around 1,800 people. Another 13 major and three mega industries are under various stages of progress with the total investment standing at Rs 12,725 crore and once they were fully operational they would provide direct employment to 5,499 people.
Mohan Spintex India Limited, one of the largest fully integrated textile company in India and a leading exporter, manufacturer-cum supplier of cotton yarns, pure cotton yarn and white cotton yarn, has set up the first fabric industry in the district with an investment of Rs 270 crore in April. It is the first major industrial unit in the district after the state bifurcation.
The unit set up atRemalle village in Bapulapadu mandal of the district provides direct employment to 1,000 people and indirect employment to many more. Another major industrial unit to have come up in the district in the last couple of monthswas Sahyadri Industries Limited’s asbestos cement sheet and accessories manufacturing unit. It came up at Narasimharaopalem village, Veerullapadu mandal, in the district. It was set up at a cost of Rs 35 crore.
It too provides employment to several hundreds of people. Godrej Agrovet Limited has established anaqua feed and animal feed manufacturing unit with Rs 45 crore at Kanumolu village of Bapulapadu mandal. Global Feeds, which has set up a unit of aqua feeds in the district in 2014, has now decided to expand its operations by investing Rs 77 crore. Crux Biotech India Private Limited has set up a grain based distillery at Peddavaram village in Nandigama mandal with an investment of Rs 100 crore and will provide direct employment to around 250 people.
According to District Industries Centre (DIC) general manager G Rajendra Prasad, another 13 major industries are in the pipeline with a total investment of Rs 625.85 crore that will provide direct employment to 3,959 people and three mega industries (investment of Rs 250 crore and above) with an investment of Rs 12,100 crore that will provide direct employment to 1,540 people.
